Great Birmingham Run Business Challenge winners revealed

Accountants, software developers and engineers brought home the spoils for a trio of companies at the city's annual half marathon race

Great Birmingham Run 2015

Chartered accountants, software developers and precision engineers were the big winners at the 2015 Great Birmingham Run Business Challenge.

Birmingham-based finance firm JW Hinks and software company Delcam and East Midlands business Sigma Precision Components took home the top three prizes at the annual half marathon which pitched teams from different companies against each other.

Business Challenge teams could be single or mixed gender and had between four and eight runners.

The four fastest collective times by participants were then totted up for each team to pick the overall winners.

JW Hinks was crowned top small company (under 50 staff) with a time of 6:24.11 while Sigma Precision Components won the medium category (50-249 staff) with a time of 6:38.50.

Making up the winners was Delcam which took home the large company prize (over 250 staff) by sneaking under the six-hour barrier with a time of 5:59.41.

The annual half marathon attracted more than 20,000 runners to Birmingham on Sunday and the men's elite race was won by Britain's Chris Thompson while Polish runner Dominika Napieraj took home the women's elite crown.

Organiser Great Run has confirmed it will return next year on Sunday October 16.
