Business advisory giant Grant Thornton is staging a Midlands growth summit that calls for action to help the nation鈥檚 medium-sized business.
Former Lib Dem leader Lord Paddy Ashdown will deliver a keynote address at the Edgbaston Stadium event on November 26. Grant Thornton said the sector is often ignored by policymakers and the summit is specifically designed for bosses to air their views on what would help business.
The firm is undertaking a second major research project in partnership with the Centre of Economic and Business Research to define the strength of the mid-market and its contribution to the 海角视频 economy following its successful Agents of Growth report last year.
Early research for the 2013 document shows medium-sized businesses (MSBs) in the West Midlands have increased their employment levels by an estimated 2.7 per cent between 2011 and 2013, equivalent to 9,000 jobs
Dave Munton, regional managing partner at Grant Thornton and summit host, said: 鈥淟ast year鈥檚 report showed a secret success story with many MSBs displaying high growth potential and the Midlands region echoes the national picture. We believe there is a need to turn analysis into action. Our hope is that the summits will be catalysts to enable MSBs across the 海角视频 to grow strategically and operationally.鈥
