Listed landlord Grainger Plc has unveiled plans for a £55.6m housing scheme in Nottingham amid plans to bolster its private rental sector portfolio.

The Newcastle based residential landlord has agreed to forward fund and acquire a 348-home PRS development from Blocwork LLP – a 50/50 joint venture between Network Rail and Bloc Group.

The joint venture has been setup to develop rail side sites nationally, and is the developer of the scheme.

The scheme will become Grainger’s first scheme in Nottingham, which it said is a key target city for its national build-to-rent and PRS investment strategy.

It has singled out Nottingham for its strong market fundamentals as a location with deep rental demand and strong economic growth prospects.

Despite the positive market backdrop, Nottingham has a limited amount of similar purpose-built, large scale rental housing schemes.

The transaction is subject to the satisfactory appointment of a contractor and other conditions.

Planning permission for the scheme was granted in late 2019 and construction is expected to get under way in the second half of the year, with the scheme expected to be leased by early 2024.
