Global business and IT consulting firm CGI has opened a new office in Liverpool, creating 70 jobs for the city.
The new office in South Edward Pavilion in Albert Dock is part of the firm's investment plans for northern England, which currently see the North West as a key target.
The new base will host 70 CGI 'members', and the firm held a grand opening event on Tuesday.
It follows the firm launching its Manchester office back in March, and Tara McGeehan, president of聽CGI鈥檚 海角视频 and Australia Operations, said: 鈥淥pening a聽Liverpool聽office is part of our bigger plan to drive growth and investment in northern England and the North West in particular, following the opening of our office in Salford earlier this year.

The opening was attended by Michael Herron Vice President of CGI's Central Government section, and representatives from local organisations including the聽Liverpool聽Chamber of Commerce, of which聽CGI is now a partner.
According to CGI, many of the 70 members at the Liverpool office will support the Government's Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) with its IT services.
Gary Blanchard from the DBS said: "We are pleased to be working with聽CGI聽who will be providing important IT services to support our safeguarding function.
"The opening of their new聽Liverpool聽office shows their commitment both to working with DBS, and to the local area. We are looking forward to working with our new colleagues."
CGI, which is one of the largest independent IT and business consulting services firms in the world, said the new opening will see "continued implementation" of its client proximity operating model, which focuses on helping the communities in which its members live and work.
Founded in 1976, CGI has around 77,500 consultants and professionals across the globe.
