General Election 2015: Sutton Coldfield looks safe for Andrew Mitchell, say bookies

Andrew Mitchell has had no shortage of problems of late, but bookmakers say his Sutton Coldfield seat is looking as safe as it gets for the General Election

There’s been no shortage of problems for in recent years – but holding on to his seat shouldn’t keep him up at night, according to bookies.

Former Government chief whip Mr Mitchell, who has been caught up in the scandal, is 100/1 on to secure Sutton Coldfield again for the Conservative party in the .

Sutton Coldfield is Birmingham’s bluest constituency and even in New Labour’s pomp in the late 1990s it never got close to changing that.

Mr Mitchell won with 54 per cent of the vote last time, with ’s Robert Pocock getting little more than a third of that.

It will again be Mr Pocock standing for Labour, but Ladbrokes make his odds of success 100/1 against, the same as the .

It is ’s Marcus John Brown predicted for second place this year, at 16/1 for a victory.
