Fully-vaccinated adults in Wales will no longer need to self isolate if in contact of a Covid case

From August 7, double-jabbed adults, children and young people under 18 will be exempt from the need to self-isolate if they are also identified as close contacts of a positive case

All adults in Wales who have been fully-vaccinated will no longer have to self-isolate if they are identified as close contacts of someone with coronavirus from August 7.

Wales is also expected to move to alert level zero, if the public health situation allows.

As well as fully vaccinated adults, children and young people under 18 will be exempt from the need to self-isolate if they are also identified as close contacts of a positive case. However, they will be advised to go for a PCR test on days two and eight.

Everyone who tests positive for coronavirus or has symptoms must continue to isolate for 10 days, whether they have been vaccinated or not.

The NHS Wales Test Trace Protect (TTP) service will use the Welsh Immunisation Service to identify adults who are fully-vaccinated and who will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are identified as close contacts.

This means that from August 7, instead of instructing fully-vaccinated adults to isolate, contact tracers and advisers will provide them with advice and guidance about how to protect themselves and stay safe.

The TTP service will provide a “warn and inform” service for all fully-vaccinated adults and under-18s, who are identified as close contacts.
