Glittering handmade disco balls will appear in Bristol city centre this week to mark the last stage of reopening for the city’s businesses.

The installations are part of a year-long campaign - known as #LoveBristol - being spearheaded Bristol City Centre BID, and supported by tourism organisation Visit Bristol.

The #LoveBristol initiative aims to support retailers, hospitality businesses and the wider community to recover from the pandemic - and comes as restrictions are lifted in England on Monday, July 19.

The campaign is being supported by Business West, the new Redcliffe and Temple BID, Cabot Circus and Broadmead BID, in partnership with the One City Economy Board and Bristol City Council.

A shimmering giant pink disco heart was the first to be installed on King Street and was followed others on Corn Street, St Nicholas Street, Broad Street and Frogmore Street.

According to Bristol City Centre BID, the glitter balls are meant to reflect a "sense of brightness and joy" as the city continues on its path to recovery.

Vicky Lee, head of Bristol City Centre BID, said: “Bristol is a city of music and culture with worldwide recognition for our amazing restaurants, bars and venues.

"The restrictions of the last 18 months have seen many of these businesses hardest hit and many are fully opening for the first time again this week. This latest addition to our #Love Bristol campaign sends a message of joy and togetherness.
