Four-star hotel could be built in Liverpool close to Everton's new Bramley Moore Dock stadium

The development would also include office space - and there are hopes to complete it by 2022

A four-star luxury hotel could soon be built close to Liverpool's Bramley Moore Dock, the location for Everton's new stadium.

Plans submitted to Liverpool City Council last week would see warehouses on Waterloo Road in Ten Streets knocked down to make way for a 190-bed hotel.

The hotel does not yet have a name, but would be located on the site of the old IBS buildings between Porter Street and Regent Street.

Proposals were submitted by developer Fast Growth Homes Limited, who said it could be the "last part of the waterfront jigsaw".

A spokesman for the developers said: "I believe the planning permission for a four-star 190-bedroom hotel will be a major step in right direction to help kickstart the regeneration. With rising from the dockside and the announcement of the Everton arena, the momentum is gaining pace."

He added that Ten Streets is the "last little area" of Liverpool's North Docks that needed to be given "a proverbial kick up the backside to get going", adding: "That whole area you are going to see up turned up. It's going to be immense.

"We are speaking with a number of developers to go in for a joint venture. The first step is to get it through planning."

Developers hope they can get the building completed by 2022.
