A former Euro MP is in pole position to make a return to the Brussels Parliament after topping the Labour Party’s West Midlands election list in the West Midlands following a vote of members.
Neena Gill was West Midlands MEP for ten years before losing her seat in 2009. She has now been selected as first choice candidate for the regional Labour Party at the 2014 election.
She is one of three former MEPs and MPs hoping to make a comeback in next year's European elections.

Following her on the list is Sion Simon, the man who quit as Erdington MP in 2010 to stand as Mayor of Birmingham.
But his ambition was cut short when the city's voters rejected the idea of an elected mayor in last year's referendum.
Another former MP Lynda Waltho, who represented Stourbridge between 2005 and 2010, is third choice.
Labour currently holds only one of the six West Midlands seats contested in 2009. The Tories and 海角视频IP took two each and Lib Dems the final place.
Next year there will be seven seats and Labour will be looking to increase its numbers.

Fourth on the Labour list, and unlikely to secure a seat, is Washwood Heath Councillor Ansar Ali Khan, followed by Olwen Hamer, Tony Ethapemi and Claire Edwards.
The seven candidates were selected by regional officials earlier this year and party members were then balloted on their ranking order, with the first, third, fifth and seventh places reserved for female candidates, and the even numbers for male candidates.
Harriet Harman MP said of the candidates: "Like the people they seek to represent, they come from all walks of life and from all the different communities who live here in the West Midlands.
“Their top priority is to be a strong voice in the European Parliament to make sure they get the best deal and bring jobs and growth here in the West Midlands.”
The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have already released their party lists.
The Tories have named Philip Bradbourn, Anthea McIntyre, Daniel Dalton, Michael Burnett, Sibby Buckle, David Price and Dan Sames.
On the Lib Dem list are Phil Bennion, Jonathan Webber, Christine Tinker, Ayoub Khan, Tim Bearder, Joanna Corbin and Neville Farmer.

There was a small swing from Labour to Tory at Codnor and Waingroves, Amber Valley Borough, Derbyshire, compared with last year. But this ward was a marginal in the May 2010 council contests fought on the same day as the general election.
