Former Dragon Hilary Devey puts £2.2m Rangemore Hall up for sale

A home fit for a Dragon... Former BBC Dragons' Den star Hilary Devey liked this £2.2m residence so much she bought it

A large section of Rangemore Hall was constructed for the visit of King Edward VII in 1902. This wing was commissioned by Lord Burton to provide the King and his entourage with their own private accommodation.

This add on turned out to be significantly larger than the mansion itself and in the event was only used by the Royal party for three days. The King did return for a second visit five years later in 1907 – bringing with him both Queen Alexandra and his mistress Alice Keppel – so Lord Burton could feel it was money well spent!

The Edward VII Wing is now the finest of the .

Since 2006 it has been fit not just for a king, but for the Queen of the pallets.

Colourful entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den star Hilary Devey was so impressed by it that she snapped it up nearly a decade ago, reportedly beating Robbie Williams, who was born in nearby Stoke, to the property-buying punch.

Buyers can live like a King (or Queen) in this palatial home which is on the market for more than £2 million.

Fluted Corinthian columns topped by an arched stone pediment make a suitably grand entrance.

A panelled door opens onto the first reception area where there is a Travertine marble floor and beautiful plaster work.
