Forest Holidays investing in new venue in the Brecon Beacons in multi-million pound investment

It is estimated that the new tourist location will provide a boost of £1.5m per year to the regional economy

Holiday cabin and lodge firm Forest Holidays has confirmed its 12th venue in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ with a multi-million pound investment in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

It said the investment at Garwnant in Merthyr Tydfil, will create 60 jobs and provide a boost of £1.5m per year to the regional economy.

Scheduled to open in December it will provide 40 timber built cabins offering overnight accommodation in 400 acres of woodland at the southern edge of the national park.

The investment will also upgrade an existing visitor centre and cafe, as well as providing new shop and bike hire facilities.

It will be the company’s second location in Wales, the first one having opened in Snowdonia National Park in 2018. It has 12 venues across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ.

Bruce McKendrick, chief executive of Forest Holidays said: “We are looking forward to making a valuable and eco-sensitive contribution to the growing tourism economy in South Wales, with the creation of new local jobs, enhancements to the forest environment and the economic benefits our new location will bring to the surrounding area.”
