Flying Geese set their stall out for Great Birmingham Run

Geese Theatre Company will enter three teams, which will be made up of company and board members as well as family and friends

Geese Theatre Company will enter three teams, which will be made up of company and board members as well as family and friends.

Twelve runners from a Birmingham-based theatre company will run the Bupa Great Birmingham Run to raise awareness of its work with prisons and offenders across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

Geese Theatre Company will enter three teams, which will be made up of company and board members as well as family and friends.

But the event will be a whole team affair as colleagues will be ensuring the team is well hydrated, by setting up a stall at Cannon Hill Park to raise awareness of the company’s work.

Geese Theatre Company works with around 150 prisons in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and, since it was established 26 years ago, has worked with over 200,000 offenders.

Money raised will support its ongoing projects which use drama and theatre to encourage self-awareness and to assist individuals in exploring the idea of change and the impact that change may have on their lives.

Each year, the company works with over 1,500 offenders and offers training to 6,000 professionals such as probation officers, judges and police.

Geese Theatre Company’s Operations and Marketing Coordinator Kerry Reidy explained: “Due to the nature of our work, Geese Theatre Company has traditionally been very low-key but we are keen to raise the profile of the company’s excellent work with offenders and the positive role we play in helping people not to re-offend.”

The runners have been motivating one another to train by sharing blogs offering tips for training and support for one another.
