The two rail operators said passengers simply needed to show their Flybe booking confirmation to train crew in order to claim free travel.

Flybe staff can also travel for free by showing proof of employment and the offer runs until Wednesday March 11.

The two train operators services between Liverpool and London and across the West Midlands.

Andy Camp, commercial director for West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway, said: "Passengers with Flybe may be anxious as they work out how they are going to complete their journeys.

"At this difficult time we are happy to play our part in helping remove some of the stress by providing free travel on our services for Flybe ticket-holders and staff members."
