First ever Birmingham wine festival

Event brings together wine producers, merchants, experts and commentators with hundreds of wines at Birmingham’s Hyatt Hotel on June 13 and 14

Ian Harvey and Amy Seton

Birmingham is set to host its first major wine festival this summer.

The Birmingham Wine Festival has been founded by Ian Harvey of The Wine Tasting Company and Moseley resident Amy Seton, who launched a popular annual whisky festival in Birmingham two years ago and has now launched her own enterprise, The Food and Drinks Events Company.

The pair are planning to bring together wine producers, merchants, experts and commentators with hundreds of wines at Birmingham’s Hyatt Hotel on June 13 and 14.

The celebration of the vine will offer two sessions each day, with a festival hall devoted to wine and another devoted to Champagne.

It will also see a series of tutored tasting master-classes run alongside the festival halls, as well as luxury food-matching curated by some of Birmingham’s best restaurants.

Ms Seton said: “This is something that hasn’t really been seen in Birmingham before.

“It’s a big event dedicated to wine, at a prominent venue, and the range on offer will be phenomenal.”

The Friday afternoon session will be designed for a corporate market with businesses invited to bring their clients for wining, dining and networking.
