Twenty-two members of the West Midlands business community are preparing for the biggest cricket match of their careers after teams from Savills and the Phoenix Group confirmed their place at the world famous Edgbaston Stadium for the Final of the Warwickshire Taverners Trophy.

Nineteen corporate teams have done battle throughout the summer to take part in next Tuesday鈥檚 final, which will take place alongside the launch of an annual cricket networking event in the Warwickshire committee room.

Trevor Law, Organiser of the Warwickshire Taverners Trophy, said: 鈥淭his year鈥檚 Trophy has been the biggest yet and we鈥檝e seen some fantastic cricket played in the qualifying stages at Moseley Ashfield CC鈥檚 Britannic Park ground.

鈥淭he opportunity for an amateur cricketer to play at Edgbaston is a huge incentive to all teams that have taken part in this year鈥檚 tournament. We thank Edgbaston for this opportunity as well as the support of our sponsors, Investec and Keith Prowse hospitality for making it such a great event.鈥

The final starts at 4pm and Edgbaston is opening its members鈥 lounge to team supporters, with the VIP networking event taking place next door in the committee room

Craig Flindall, Finance Director at Edgbaston, said: 鈥淎s well as giving local cricketers a chance to play at one of the world鈥檚 most famous cricket grounds, we hope the networking event will become a fixture in the annual calendar to showcase both the stadium and the superb work of the Lord鈥檚 Taverners.

鈥淭his will be the second time that we鈥檝e held the tournament final and, with Savills and the Phoenix Group qualifying for the first time, we鈥檙e looking forward to another great day at Edgbaston.鈥
