Hull safety products supplier Arco has been named Supreme Family Business of the Year.

Recognition of all that has been achieved in five generations of family ownership came to the fore at the virtual bash.

Judges recognised the company’s commitment to the health and safety industry, its people and investment efforts to future-proof for generations to come.

The huge extension to its national distribution centre - completed just in time to support the Covid PPE rush - was considered, with a flagship headquarters about to be handed over in the city centre.

Thomas Martin, chairman, was delighted with the accolade, with the Yorkshire category also won.

He said: “Everything we do is about understanding how we can be a force for good. Our business growth is driven by the desire to make a positive impact: the more we grow, the more we can help preserve the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s safety standards.

“We are absolutely delighted that our people have been recognised for the phenomenal things they do for society, and we are honoured to receive two awards that champion family business. Thank you FBU for the recognition, and for reminding those in government and in business of the importance of the family business sector and the contribution it makes.”

Organised by Family Business United, a global platform founded by recognised influencer Paul Andrews, the virtual awards recognised entrepreneurship, innovation, spirit of family business and community impact.
