Thousands of employees at a major engineering and design firm are being offered a new hybrid working model in a "reinvention" of the working week.

Arup said its 6,000 staff across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ will be given greater flexibility in deciding how and where they work, PA reports.

Employees will be able to work their hours over the course of Monday to Sunday, or work from home.

The initiative, called Work Unbound, means staff could opt to work some of their hours over a weekend rather than during the traditional Monday to Friday.

The company held flexible working trials in Liverpool in 2019, before the pandemic struck, and found that four out of five employees varied their hours, with a third choosing to work at weekends.

The pilot scheme led to increased productivity, work-life balance and well-being of staff, said Arup.

Jerome Frost, of Arup's º£½ÇÊÓƵ, India, Middle East and Africa region, said: "Building significant flexibility into our colleagues' working lives is something we've been experimenting with since before the pandemic.
