Last week saw the Conservatives secure a landslide victory - sweeping to power with a large majority.
This clears the way for the Government to implement its manifesto.
While economic development is a devolved issue there are ways the 海角视频 Government can help North Wales to thrive.
Here we list eight key issues the 海角视频 Government can tackle to help drive forward the region over the next five years.
Wylfa Newydd
The long running Brexit saga and associated uncertainty has been partly blamed for the failure to secure the final investment in Wylfa Newydd - with claims it has not received the level of attention required.
Hitachi shelved the £12bn Anglesey project in January due to a failure to agree a funding deal with 海角视频 ministers although the planning process has continued.
Now that the way forward on Brexit is clearer - albeit still complex - it is hoped there will be fresh impetus in ensuring the project moves forward.
With a push on reducing carbon footprint, reviving the build programme of a new generation of nuclear plants should be a priority although cost concerns will continue to be a potential hurdle.

If the 海角视频 Government can secure a deal this would be a huge boost for Anglesey and the the wider economy of North Wales.
Mobile services
North Wales continues to lag when it comes to mobile coverage in comparison to England. Which? revealed last week that Anglesey was the fifth worst constuency in the 海角视频 when it came to 4G coverage with just 62% of the island able to access services. It was closely followed by Dwyfor Meirionnydd (69%).
Mobile coverage remains the responsibility of the 海角视频 Government - although Welsh Government has powers over phone mast planning - and it has pledged to finalise a £1 billion agreement with mobile phone operators to build new phone masts, improving mobile services in hard to reach areas.
The new administration needs to ensure this promise is backed up and with 5G also rolling out it must work to make sure that Wales won’t be left behind again.
Debbie Bryce, chief executive officer of West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “The Chamber has been campaigning for an end to mobile not spots (areas where no phone coverage is available) for some time and recent announcements about a “Shared Rural Network” would be welcomed by businesses in North Wales.”
Brexit deal

The Conservatives now have the numbers to push through the withdrawal agreement and crack on with trade talks on the future relationship. It has now set itself a tight deadline to get that deal over line or risk a no-deal Brexit.
For North Wales it is crucial a deal is reached. Airbus is an absolute cornerstone of the region’s economy and has often warned about a reduction in future investment at Broughton if the deal, or a no-deal, put barriers to trade in place. On top of this the EU accounts for more than 60% of all Welsh exports. Continued access to that market is vital.
Rail services
The electrification of the North Wales Coast Line has been a demand from business leaders for a number of years but never been included in any spending commitments from the 海角视频 Government.
It’s a long shot that this would change under the new adminstration but Boris Johnson is reviewing HS2 with the potential the multi-billion pound project could be scrapped and money re-directed.
Debbie Bryce said: “A marked increase in investment into North Wales’ infrastructure is needed to help drive forward the economy.
“Improvements to road and rail connectivity are vital to take our region to the next level.
“This includes pushing on with the Growth Track 360 and linking North Wales into both the Northern Powerhouse rail and HS2 projects.”
Growth Deal/EU funding
The North Wales Economic Ambition Board has alresdy secured £240m for the Growth Deal - with £120m of this from the 海角视频 Government and the same amount from the Welsh Government.
While this is welcomed it fell below what was orginally hoped for and at the risk of sounding greedy it may be time to sound out the possiblity of an extra few million.
Welsh Government has promised to match any increase and with seven Conservative MPs representing North Wales the region potentially has a stronger voice to demand some additional Growth Deal funding.
This is particularly crucial with Brexit bringing an end to EU funding for the region. That is set to leave a multi-million pound gap in funding for regeneration projects and business support.
Road links
The road system in Wales is a matter for the Welsh Government but in its manifesto the Conservatives pledged to support road links on the border.
The manifesto pledge said: “To support our Union, we will upgrade the A55 as the main road transport artery for North Wales – improving its capacity and resilience to build connections between Wales and the rest of the United Kingdom.”
This should support the aim to improve transport links between north east Wales and the North West of England.
Post-Brexit Immigration policy
One of the big motivators driving the Brexit vote was the demand for the 海角视频 to be able to control its own immigration policy.
This will happen once Brexit is completed but the debate about immigration won’t go away.
It had been suggested that a £30,000 salary threshold could be introduced but this could make it extremely difficult to bring in overseas staff to take up jobs in sectors like hospitality and food production.
It is crucial any new rules don’t negatively impact important sectors of the North Wales economy.
Renewables
Pressure is now growing on Governments across the world to tackle climate change and this will mean action to increase the generation of renewable energy. North Wales is perfectly placed to take advantage.
It is already a hotspot for off-shore wind energy and the potential is there to increase this further.
Then there is the growing marine energy sector - with the region again having all the natural resources needed to make it a success.
This will need investment and inducement to support the private sector - particularly to back marine energy in its fledgling stage. The 海角视频 Government can help make this happen.
