The first units in a new £56 million enterprise park will include a raft of environmentally-friendly measures, according to the developers.

North Kesteven District Council says the first buildings on the Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park in Lincolnshire, will have solar panels, electric vehicle charging points and shelters, bicycle storage areas and thermal energy saving measures such as super-efficient insulation.

The units will be set in native tree and self-watering planting areas sculpted to collect and make use of rainwater, along with hedging and wildflower meadows to support pollinating insects.

The council says there will also be bat and bird boxes, hedgehog homes and log piles for reptiles, insects and invertebrates.

Pending planning permission, plot one of the first phase of development will have nine units ranging from 1,300 sq ft to 2,060 sq ft. Plot two will have six slightly bigger grow-on units ranging from 3,370 sq ft to 5,100 sq ft.

Planners are currently considering the application for this first phase, and if approved both plots would be built speculatively and could be complete before winter next year.

North Kesteven District Council leader Coun Richard Wright said: “We couldn’t be more pleased to share these plans for phase one of our Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park.

“In total these units would create an extra 2,367 square metres of new space for business, bringing fresh potential for jobs and economic growth.
