One of the key elements that helps make the East Midlands one of the strongest economies in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ is the fact it is home to a diverse range of businesses.

This is evident in the first ever East Midlands Top 500 index, which ranks to best companies across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.

Throughout this week, Business Live is publishing the index, wich allows us to see the range and strength of firms across the three counties covered by East Midlands Chamber.

The index has been compiled by a team including researchers from De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) (Rachel English, Professor David Rae and doctoral researchers Deji Olagboye and Ngozi Eneh Ojo); the University of Derby (Alexandra Charles, Marc Cowling); Nottingham Trent University (Will Rossiter) working with Reach Media and East Midlands Chamber.

The Top 500 is based on historic data from Companies House accounts, submitted between July 2017 and June 2018 and will be updated yearly. It provides a baseline for comparison in future years since it features data predating the effects of Brexit and COVID -19.

It includes companies with their registered offices located in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.

All of these have already been included in the Top 200 Companies 2019 for Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, featured in Business Live coverage by Reach Media.

Over the course of this week, Business Live is publishing the index in stages, counting down to the top 20, which will be revealed on Friday.
