Sandbanks in Dorset is the most expensive coastal area in the 海角视频 for property, new analysis from Rightmove has revealed. The affluent neighbourhood of Poole - famed for its golden-sand beach - has a current average asking price of 拢1.5m.

Poole's Canford Cliffs was the second-most expensive location, with an average asking price of 拢1.2m, while Milford-on-Sea in Hampshire was third (拢751,442), and Padstow, in Cornwall, ranked fourth (拢678,058).

The study analysed the prices of more than 200 coastal areas across Great Britain.

Six of the 10 most-costly locations were in the South West, including Budleigh Salterton, Devon (拢542,005); Lyme Regis, Dorset (拢521,932); and Sidmouth, Devon (拢501,099).

Steve Isaacs, director at 海角视频 and Prestige Realty in Poole, said: 鈥淭he areas of Sandbanks and Canford Cliffs continue to be very popular, and prime waterfront properties in Sandbanks have been doing particularly well. For those that can, the lifestyle of living in a beautiful location by the sea will always be appealing and is not to be underestimated.鈥

In contrast, Saltcoats in Ayrshire, Scotland, was the cheapest coastal area, with an average asking price of 拢114,365. Easington (拢122,520) and Peterlee (拢124,593), both in County Durham, ranked second and third.

However, Rightmove said Peterlee was a current "price hotspot", with average asking prices in the area up by 15% compared to this time last year.

Over the last couple of years, the pandemic trend of more people looking to coastal areas over cities has been reversing. This year, Glasgow, Bristol and Edinburgh have been searched for more than Devon, which was previously in third place this time last year, Rightmove said. London and Cornwall remain in first and second place.

Tim Bannister, Rightmove鈥檚 property expert, said: 鈥淲hilst the pandemic-driven surge for seaside areas has calmed down and reversed back to more normal levels, areas around Great Britain鈥檚 coast continue to be popular with many people. Particularly at this time of year, many people consider what a home by the sea and away from the hustle and bustle of a city could look like, or perhaps explore estate agents鈥 windows while on holiday.鈥
