Plans for the next phase of a £100 million regeneration project in Derby have been put forward.

Compendium Living, the company delivering the Castleward scheme, has submitted plans to Derby City Council for the latest phase of the project, which will deliver hundreds of new homes.

Castleward sits between the Intu Derby shopping centre and Derby Midland Station.

Compendium has already completed the first phase of the scheme and work is well underway on the second phase.

Now the developer has lodged plans for phase three, which involves constructing 82 homes in John Street on land currently occupied by industrial units.

In planning documents submitted to the city council by HTA Design, on behalf of Compendium, it said: “In January 2019, the design team met with Derby City Council to discuss feasibility studies for phase three of the Castleward development.

“It was agreed at this meeting that the principle of increasing the density was acceptable due to housing market changes and viability issues.

“With this in mind, the proposals look to maintain key principles of the masterplan, while incorporating an increased density on the site.
