A £200 million regeneration scheme in Derby will be one of several big projects in the Midlands that will be showcased at a major international property investment event.

At this year’s MIPIM, which takes place in Cannes, in the south of France, from March 10 to 13, the East and West Midlands will once again be joining forces to showcase billions of pounds worth of projects to investors.

And among them will be Becketwell, a major regeneration scheme that aims to bring hundreds of new homes, as well as office, leisure and retail space, to a rundown part of the city centre. At the event, the project will be showcased by Derby City Council.

MIPIM is considered to be the world’s leading property investment show, attracting investors from across the globe.

More than 85 private and public sector organisations from across the region will make up the Midlands º£½ÇÊÓƵ delegation, backed by the Midlands Engine and Department for International Trade.

Among them, representatives from Derby and Derbyshire, which has attracted £4.1 billion of investment since 2005 with another £2.2 billion in the pipeline – will be highlighting several real estate projects at the event, the most notable being Becketwell.

John Forkin, managing director of Derby’s inward investment agency Marketing Derby, said: “Collaboration with the private sector is absolutely key to driving regeneration and investment opportunities.

“The technologies and innovation from the private sector can accelerate projects in a time and cost effective way, bringing forward much needed regeneration in towns and cities.”
