A father who was made redundant last year is launching a street food van offering homemade treats and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches on a Gloucestershire trading estate.
Jason Fish has been given the green light by South Gloucestershire councillors to operate his venture, Baked and Bearded Gourmet Bites, serving both hot and cold fare on Great Park Road in Bradley Stoke from 7am to 2pm on weekdays.
His proposal faced opposition from a local resident who expressed concerns that the van could exacerbate existing traffic issues and pose a risk to public safety, particularly during peak hours. The road is frequented by heavy vehicles and buses, with parked cars creating bottlenecks near a bus stop.

The objector also raised fears about potential loitering and antisocial behaviour.
However, no objections were raised by any official bodies, including the police, the council's highways department, or public health officials, leading the licensing sub-committee to grant permission for the stationary street trading. Bradley Stoke Town Council also had no objection.
Addressing the committee on Tuesday, May 20, Mr Fish argued that the road was quite long and straight, allowing for two-way traffic despite the parked vehicles.
He reassured the panel: "My trailer is relatively small, it's only six metres in length, comparable to a small van – it's not one of those big grotesque massive ones.
"The objection raised concerns about traffic flow during rush hour, so in the mornings I will be on the outbound side of the estate which will enable traffic flow into the estate.
