'Cook your own steak' restaurant primed for landmark town centre location

The venue is due to open in May

Blackburn's One Cathedral Square

A 'Cook your own steak' restaurant is set to open in Blackburn's flagship office block later this year.

The Firepit Restaurant and Cocktail Bar will take over vacant space in One Cathedral Square in May,

The venue will be the third tenant of the office block's main restaurant since it was built following the A Mano and Al Cristallo Italians.

The Firepit chain, which started with a venue in Rawtenstall, will create 30 new jobs when it opens as lockdown restrictions ease.

This is currently scheduled for indoor hospitality venues on May 17.

The Firepit will hold up to 100 diners. The chain also has restaurants in St Annes and Southport.

Its signature dish is steak-on-a-stone cooked at the table on a 350 degree Lava rock, which holds its temperature to ensure it is done exactly to the customer's liking.

Firepit founder Andrew Novak said: "The brand was developed to be a social experience, Since the age of mankind the firepit has been the centre of social circles.
