Plans for a major housing scheme in south Birmingham have taken another significant step forward after the city council cabinet agreed to open the tender process to build more than 300 homes.
The £19.1 million project on the Primrose Estate, in is part of a wider scheme which will eventually see about 1,000 homes developed on land adjoining Foyle Road and Redditch Road.
This phase of the development comprises 313 homes on 26 acres of council-owned land, with half to be 'affordable' housing and the remainder available for general sale, alongisde new highways and alterations to existing roads.

The city council has received backing of more than £10 million and £3.7 million from the Homes and Communities Agency.
The project is being delivered through Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (BMHT), the city council's programme of house building which was launched in 2009 and develops homes across the city with its construction partners.
The contract is due to be awarded to the housing developer next March and work is set to commence in spring 2016.
The wider project is called the 'Kings Norton New Futures Programme' and comprises three neighbouring estates - Primrose, Pool Farm, and Hawkesley.
In 2007, the council's cabinet approved a major redevelopment programme which included demolishing 876 properties in Pool Farm and Primrose, the new build of over 1,000 properties and a new retail centre.

The demolition of the properties releases approximately 59 acres of land for redevelopment on the three estates.
To date, more than 300 properties have been demolished and over 300 have been built or are under construction.
The former Primrose Estate is one of the biggest within the BMHT portfolio.
