A group of travellers who set up camp at a school coach park, sparking traffic chaos, have left the site.
Four caravans, cars and vans moved onto the South Staffordshire school’s coach park last Wednesday.
Police had warned the travellers a court order would be taken out if they didn’t move on.
Local County Councillor Mike Lawrence said: “The travellers have moved from the two sites they were occupying at the car park of Cheslyn Hay School and on land at nearby Middle Hill. They moved from the site on Monday night.
“We had been working with police and had applied to the courts for a possession order to remove them from the school car park and the nearby land, which is used as a bridleway,
“But they have now left without any further intervention from the courts or the police.”
Last month travellers who set up an illegal camp in Brownhills left ahead of a formal court order. A convoy settled in Silver Court Gardens and a notice to remove them was being sought at Walsall Magistrates Court. But they left before court action was taken.
Just days earlier a group of travellers set up an illegal camp at a university recreation ground. Seven caravans settled at Aston University’s Outdoor Recreation Centre, on the border of Walsall and Great Barr.
