º£½ÇÊÓƵ engineering and construction company VolkerFitzpatrick is to install the onshore cables for Hornsea Three offshore wind farm.

The company has signed a contract with world leading developer Orsted for its latest project off the East Coast. It led the latest auction round for renewable energy deployment, with a final investment decision anticipated this year.

VolkerFitzpatrick will install 240km of cabling, stretching from Weybourne on the north Norfolk coast, to the Norwich Main National Grid Substation. It will deliver all civil works, and reinstatement of land following.

After a successful collaboration with VolkerInfra on the Hornsea Two project, Orsted said it was looking forward to working closely with the VolkerWessels º£½ÇÊÓƵ group again in order to deliver another safe and sustainable project.

Hornsea Three senior project director, Luke Bridgman, said: “As well as providing low-cost clean energy at scale, Hornsea Three is also supporting the further development of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ supply chain. Through our partnerships with leading industry expertise, such as VolkerFitzpatrick, we will be looking to share opportunities with º£½ÇÊÓƵ suppliers and contractors to work on this ground-breaking project.”

In the past five years, as the Grimsby-anchored Hornsea Zone has emerged, the company has directly placed major contracts with more than 200 º£½ÇÊÓƵ companies.

In turn, VolkerFitzpatrick will hold a meet the buyer event for prospective supply chain partners later next month.
