The largest business support organisation in the South West has been given £150,000 in government funding to help businesses prepare for Brexit.

Business West has received a share of funding which will be used to provide Brexit support to companies across Bristol, Bath and the West of England.

The organisation says it is hoping to help “as many businesses as possible” between now and October 31 - the date the º£½ÇÊÓƵ is set to exit the EU.

James Monk, director of International Trade Services at Business West, is urging businesses to take advantage.

He said: “Uncertainty over Brexit – and the possibility of a no-deal Brexit – is a pressing concern for many businesses.

“We understand that for many business owners and leaders, Brexit may not be a direct concern, however, we would encourage all business owners and leaders to consider the possible impact on their companies."

Business West is working with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Local Enterprise Partnerships and growth hubs to ensure that more and more companies across the region are as prepared as possible.

It is estimated that around one third of the 5.7 million private sector businesses in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ have carried out some level of preparation for Brexit, but another third are yet to plan for the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s departure from EU.
