British LGBT Awards 2022 shortlists revealed: Business leaders, firms and celebrities up for top honours

The awards celebrate leading activists, allies and celebrity figures who have worked to advance the rights of LGBT+ people

The business leaders, firms and celebrities up for top honours at The British LGBT Awards 2022 have been named as the shortlists ahead of the annual ceremony later this year were revealed.

The awards, which are due to be staged in London on Friday, June 24, in association with headline sponsors Macquarie and Tesco, celebrate leading LGBT+ activists, allies and celebrity figures who have worked to advance the rights of LGBT+ people during the past year.

Representatives from global corporations like Cadbury, Disney and Vodafone are also in the running for accolades alongside big name celebrities including Formula One star Lewis Hamilton, Harry Potter icon Daniel Radcliffe, Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall and Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp, who who are all nominated for the Celebrity Ally Award - a prize previously won by HRH Prince William in 2017.

Liverpool FC’s senior equality, diversity and inclusion manager Rishi Jain and head of graduate talent at Manchester-based law firm Clifford Chance Laura Yeates both received nominations for their innovative work and ground-breaking research to drive forward positive changes for LGBT+ people in respective sectors.

Multiple Grammy and BRIT Award-winning artist Dua Lipa, non-binary singer-songwriter Sam Smith, British rapper Lady Leshurr and Tradgedy band Steps will battle it out for the MTV-sponsored Music Artist of the Year gong.

Sarah Garrett, British LGBT Awards founder, said: "These awards shine a light on those who have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the LGBT+ community, during what has been another very challenging 12 months for the community.
