Work to deliver more than 60 affordable homes in one of Bristol’s major developments has reached a key milestone, with the foundations now in place.
Cooper’s Court, which represents over 20% of the homes being delivered on the second phase of the central mixed-use Finzels Reach development, is due to complete in 2023.
The building, on the site of the city’s former fire station, is being developed by Cubex for house provider Abri, and will consist of 48 flats for the social rented market and 18 for shared ownership.
Its concrete frame is due to go up in the coming weeks, meaning the new structure will start to become visible to passers-by.
In addition to Cooper’s Court, the site will also feature a 231-build-to-rent development, as well as the under-construction ‘Halo’ office building. Law firm Osborne Clarke has already signed up to occupy two thirds of the 116,000 sq ft green office, known for its environmentally-friendly design.
Cooper’s Court is also being designed with sustainability credentials, including connectivity to Bristol City Council's low carbon source district heat network, and a biodiversity roof amenity space. The building will also offer 94 cycling spaces and four car parking spaces.

Finzels Reach is one of the largest mixed-use developments in the South West. The completed first phase includes 440 new apartments, 240,000 sq ft of office space and a 168-bedroom Premier Inn.
It also features a host of cafes, restaurants and the Left Handed Giant microbrewery, across 30,000 sq ft of space.
Channel 4 and Historic England are among the organisations to have a base in Finzels Reach.
