Bookshop Foyles to open at Grand Central

Independent chain to launch second venture outside the capital and join growing list of retailers taking space at £150m centre

Foyles at Westfield Stratford City in London - the firm is opening its sixth outlet in Birmingham in September

Independent bookshop chain Foyles has signed a deal to open a new outlet in the shopping centre next to New Street station.

It will be Foyles' second shop outside of London following its launch in Bristol in 2011.

The shop, which will open in September alongside and other retailers at the £150 million centre, will be 4,300 sq ft.

The store will be the chain's sixth and led by retail operations director Siôn Hamilton.

Chief executive Sam Husain said: "Grand Central Birmingham fulfils all of our criteria for a new store - a landmark retail destination with high footfall and a quality retail mix, including our neighbours John Lewis.

"We look forward to selling books to new customers in the West Midlands, whether they be local residents, visitors to Grand Central Birmingham or travellers passing through New Street station."
