Administrators at The Book People have made more than 150 workers redundant.

The Book People went into administration a week before Christmas sparking fears over hundreds of jobs.

It employed 393 staff in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ with 229 workers at a large delivery warehouse on Parc Menai in Bangor and others at the head office in Godalming, Surrey.

Today staff were told that 155 workers were being laid off.

This included 82 in North Wales and that site has also seen contractors leave the business - leaving just 60 workers at the site.

The search will now continue to find a buyer to try to save the remaining jobs.

A spokesman added: "The Book People Limited will continue to trade through the E-commerce channel with the retained staff and the intention is to fulfil and deliver all customer orders received and accepted, whilst any remaining interest is explored."

Toby Underwood, Restructuring Partner for PwC, added: "This is a tough time for everybody associated with the much-loved book brand. Despite best efforts in exploring a sale of the business, it has not been possible to do so.
