Birmingham Sports Awards: Awards remind general public of great sporting diversity there is within the city

Team of the Year interview - Cartwright King, Rupert Hawke, Managing Director

Rupert Hawke of Cartwright King

Much as the success of the Birmingham Sports Awards depends on the public getting involved and nominating their favourite sportspeople and teams, they also benefit greatly from the support of several partner organisations.

Last year’s inaugural event was a wonderful success in large part due to the assistance it received from sponsors. The partner groups played their part in establishing the awards’ credibility with the West Midlands public and this year is, of course, no different.

This year’s sponsor of the Team of the Year Award is Cartwright King, a national law firm specialising in 13 practice areas. They are ranked as a leading and top tier firm and have a team of over 130 lawyers with 26 Partners.

Their solicitors, barristers, accredited representatives and paralegals represent individuals and businesses from the police station right through to the Supreme Court and at all points in between.

The firm now has fully established and expanding national departments in personal and commercial Immigration, Mental Health, Community Care, Court of Protection, Professional Discipline, and most recently an expanding private client and legal aid family and childcare practice. They have offices in Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Leicester, London, Derby, Nottingham and Tyneside.

Rupert Hawke, the group’s Managing Director, was kind enough to lift the lid on Cartwright King’s decision to support the awards this year. He told us, “Cartwright King is very keen to further develop our business in Birmingham and we want to support the city.

"Birmingham has a proud sporting tradition across so many disciplines that we felt involving ourselves with the Sports Awards would be a good way of showing our commitment to Birmingham.”

Cartwright King see it as key that we encourage more people to get active and to get involved in sport and look on the Birmingham Sports Awards as a great way of working towards that goal.
