The Birmingham Post has been named among the region's top newspapers in an annual award scheme.
The weekly paper has been shortlisted in the prestigious Newspaper of the Year category at the 2014 Midlands Media Awards which is run by the Birmingham Press Club.
It will vie with sister title the Birmingham Mail and six other papers for the top prize in the award scheme which celebrates the best print, broadcast and online journalism across the West and East Midlands across 22 prize categories.
The Birmingham Post will also be competing for the Public Choice award, which is voted for by readers through social media, and the Supplement of the Year category for its 'Hidden Spaces' pullout which revealed the secrets behind some of the city's most famous landmarks.
Head of business Graeme Brown has been nominated in both the Business Journalist and Weekly News Reporter categories while reporters Jon Griffin and Neil Elkes have been shortlisted for their engaging columns.
Neil has also been shortlisted alongside Graeme for Weekly News Reporter while photographer Darren Quinton has been named in the News Photography category, named in memory of former Post and Mail photographer Tony Flanagan who died last year from cancer.
The Birmingham Mail has also received a clutch of nominations with business editor Jon Griffin being named in the Business Journalist category and Mary Griffin and Justine Halifax both shortlisted for the Feature Writer award.
Other nominations for the Mail include Headline of the Year, Journalist of the Year, Daily News Reporter and News Website.
