Finalists from this year's prestigious Birmingham Post Business Awards at a champagne reception hosted by Amplify.

Top businesses, entrepreneurs and organisations toasted their success at the Foundry Restaurant, at the Barclaycard Arena last night.

They were welcomed by Graeme Brown, executive editor of BPM Media, which publishes the Birmingham Post.

Mr Brown said: "Looking back at the last 12 months, once again this region has been the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's export success story, yet again Greater Birmingham has attracted a host of companies, unemployment has fallen, employment has risen and this city looks like one with a strong future.

"Now, there's a long line of people looking to take credit for all this but it is our businesses and our entrepreneurs that drive these things on.

"It's people who have a dream, chase it, back their expertise and create jobs on the back of it. In short, people like you."

Hundreds of members of Birmingham's business community are counting down the weeks to this year's major celebration of the city's entrepreneurial successes.

More than 650 guests are expected to attend this year's at the ICC on Wednesday, October 26.
