Eddies Rock Club, on Gough Street Birmingham

Birmingham venue Eddies Rock Club has been given a new lease of life after being forced to close last month.

Originally called Edwards No.8, on John Bright Street, it was gutted by fire in 2006 but rose from the ashes and re-located to Gough Street, where it has remained until now.

Owner Colin Wall, from Tamworth, told the Post how he was recently given notice by the building landlords and had been considering his options.

But when he saw how important the venue was to rock fans – some of whom had been left in tears by the closure – the 54-year-old decided on a new beginning.

The club will now re-open at The Tunnel Club in Livery Street.

He said: “We flittered about for a year before we found the place on Gough Street and there we stayed until we got kicked out.

“With the things that have happened in the past it doesn’t bother me leaving.

“I can safely say ‘I’ve got my own T-shirts’.” He continued: “I was thinking about moving to Canada but then I saw a group of 30-year-olds outside the club crying.
