Birmingham has been named the nation's fourth most prosperous city as the number of millionaires living here soars.

Research by Barclays revealed this was a rise of 8,000 - a 33 per cent increase in the last five years, as the economic recovery continues.

The banking group also revealed Birmingham was now ranked fourth in the 海角视频 for prosperity, based on a range of different economic factors.
Only London, Reading and Cambridge came higher with city rivals Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle languishing in eighth, ninth and tenth places respectively.
Akshaya Bhargava, chief executive of Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, said: "The 海角视频 is becoming more prosperous, with every region having grown in affluence since 2010.
"It is also encouraging to see that regions and cities are starting to close the gap with London in terms of prosperity; with the North East, for example, seeing business growth rates behind only London."

Barclays said there were currently 715,000 millionaires living in Britain, a dramatic increase from the 508,000 in 2010.
The average house price in Birmingham is £134,400 whereas in London it is £422,600.
However, Birmingham follows very closely behind London in the average number of paid hours for employees being 33, compared with 33.3 in London, according to the Office for National Statistics.
Among the growing number of millionaires in the Midlands, the top millionaire is Lord Bamford from manufacturer JCB who is said to be worth £3.3 billion.
The oldest millionaire in the city is 95-year-old Jacques Murray, the chairman and main shareholder of Andrew Sykes Group, an air-conditioning and heating hire firm based in Wolverhampton.
Mr Murray is currently worth an estimated £1 billion.
