Birmingham will showcase its conference and events offering to a global audience in Las Vegas this week, hoping to attract more than 拢1 million of business tourism.
Meet Birmingham, the city鈥檚 official business tourism programme, will highlight the wide variety of venues available to international event organisers, as well as the region鈥檚 strong visitor offer as part of VisitEngland鈥檚 stand at IMEX America 2013, the worldwide exhibition for meetings and events organisers.
Ian Taylor, commercial director for Marketing Birmingham, said: 鈥淎 targeted presence at IMEX America for the second successive year will provide an excellent opportunity to generate new international leads in the events sector and build on the contacts made last year. We estimate that our attendance at IMEX America could secure more than 拢1 million of new business into the region.
鈥淪ince its opening, the new Library of Birmingham has attracted global attention and provides event organisers with a greater variety of unique spaces in the region, ensuring that we remain an attractive choice for meetings and conferences.
鈥淭he 拢65 million runway extension programme at Birmingham Airport and our central location means that we are not only a key 海角视频 destination in the events sector, but also offer our international visitors a gateway to popular local attractions within Greater Birmingham and the Black Country.鈥
IMEX America 2013 is one of the world鈥檚 largest business tourism exhibitions. Last year 2,400 event buyers met with nearly 2,500 exhibitors from 148 countries.
Meet Birmingham will be attending the show in Las Vegas as part of a VisitEngland delegation. The show runs until tomorrow at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
