Birmingham Civic Society launches Re-imagine competition

Society's competition is back for second year and asking for creative ideas about how to re-use buildings around Snow Hill station and Colmore Row

A competition which strives to find new uses for at risk buildings in Birmingham is back for its second year.

The Re-imagine event is run by Birmingham Civic Society (BCS) and last year welcomed a string of entries with ideas for buildings

The buildings featured in the competition are considered significant in the history of Birmingham but crucially have an uncertain future such as being under-used or in imminent threat of demolition.

Unlike last year, the 2015 competition does not offer a pre-set list of buildings, rather the society is asking for entries to focus on the area around Colmore Row and Snow Hill station.

Suggested buildings to focus and a former nurses' home in Ludgate Hill.

BCS said it hoped to bring the buildings into the public consciousness and stimulate debate or even identify viable future uses which could save the buildings.

The competition is open to all and not limited to those in the architecture and property profession.
