Beacon training facility Catch is to launch its own apprenticeship programme.

Having opened 15 years ago to ensure the right skills and learning environment was in place for the industrial might on the Humber, until now the Stallingborough site - with a large replica process operations facilities at its heart - has hosted third party providers.

Now it is looking to take in 60 new starters in 2022, while creating nine jobs - adding almost a third of the workforce.

James McIntosh, chief operating officer, said: “I am delighted to be able to formally launch the Catch Apprenticeship brand. Becoming an apprenticeship provider is the next evolution of Catch and builds on the previous five years of Catch Skills delivering high quality employer-led training and the extensive experience over the past 20 years of us working with our members closely with their skills, competency and apprenticeship solutions.

“Feedback has been excellent from employers and learners so far and we look forward to working with all stakeholders as we develop our programme for a September 2022 intake.”

A suite of standards will cover process operations, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical operations engineering and plate and pipe welding.

Jobs as trainers, assessors and commercial coordination roles have been created.
