BBC drama Poldark has returned to television screens for the final time after five years of filming in Bristol.

The popular show, starring Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson, was produced at The Bottle Yard Studios in the city.

The production, which is supported by Bristol Film Office, has created tens of jobs over the last 12 months.

For every ‘broadcast hour’ of on-screen drama made at the studios last year, an estimated 14 jobs were created on site, according to The Bottle Yard.

And in series five, 88 per cent of the main and daily crew used for the production were local freelancers.

With each new series, Poldark’s studio footprint at The Bottle Yard has grown. By series five, the studo housed a total of 18 sets across three of its biggest spaces.

Bristol Film Office’s Natalie Moore said: “Poldark has been an important part of the production profile of Bristol for the past half-decade and it’s wonderful to have seen so many skilled Bristol crew members playing a crucial role in the making of this each series.

“This series will see more Bristol locations featured than ever, which is a great way to mark the end of this chapter.”
