has appointed a top Australian academic as its new vice-chancellor.
Professor Alec Cameron will succeed Julia King, the Baroness Brown of Cambridge, who will stand down after ten years.
The former deputy vice-chancellor at the University of Western Australia will also become chief executive at Aston when he takes up his appointment in September.

Prof Cameron said: "I feel privileged at being given the opportunity to lead Aston University at a time of success and to evolve the distinctive Aston strategy in a rapidly changing environment driven by internationalisation, technology and deregulation.
"Aston is renowned for its commitment to graduate employability, translational research and its engagement with business.
"It is experiencing record numbers of students, best ever levels of student satisfaction and is growing its research funding base."
Prof Cameron was previously dean of the Australian School of Business and president of the Australian Business Deans Council.
He is a graduate of the advanced management program at Harvard Business School.
