A number of top-level hires and promotions have been announced by businesses based across the North West during the first week of 2022.
Companies with operations in the likes of Manchester, Liverpool, Chester and further afield have been in contact with BusinessLive since our most recent North West round up.
Businesses in sectors from as diverse as sport, technology, construction and finance are among those who have made a series of moves in the last week.

Everton
Everton Football Club have appointed Graeme Sharp to its board of directors.
The club legend will become a non-executive director and, while he will remain the club’s players’ life president, will relinquish all other club duties to focus on his role on the board.

Mr Sharp said: "This club is in my blood. I have enjoyed many great days as a Blue - and joining the board and being able to play a part in shaping Everton’s future is one of the greatest honours of all.
"I look forward to working with my fellow board members and take my responsibility as a custodian of our great club very seriously."
Northern Gritstone
Northern Gritstone, the new university spin-out investment business based in the north of England, has appointed Marion Bernard as chief investment officer.
Throughout her career Marion Bernard has focused on funding fast-growing businesses in the 海角视频.
She joins Northern Gritstone from SME investor The Firmament Group, and prior to that led the Business Growth Fund’s activity in the south east of England.
Having begun her career at Barclays Bank, her experience also includes over half a decade at 3i Ventures as well as playing a role in founding Newcastle-based Northstar Ventures, where she was CEO between 2005 and 2011.
Tritax Symmetry
Tritax Symmetry has hired Andrew Bain as the company’s new regional construction director.

A qualified project and programme manager with over 25 years’ experience working within the property and construction industry, Mr Bain has held senior roles at Granite Turner, HIMOR, Kier, Crosby Homes and Reflect Developments.
Based in the Manchester office, he will work with national construction director, Kevin Theobold and regional construction director Ben Sanders, who joined the Northampton office last year, to oversee the delivery of Tritax Symmetry’s schemes across the North and Scotland.

Bibby Financial Services
Bibby Financial Services has announced the appointment of Helen Norris as chief people and organisation officer.
She joins BFS from the British Business Bank, where she spent more than three years as chief people officer.
Helen Norris has over 30 years of people insights, all within financial services, including senior HR and organisation roles at HSBC and Nationwide, where she spent almost six years.
Chief executive Jonathan Andrew said: "I’m delighted to welcome Helen to BFS during what is a hugely exciting time for the business.
"Attracting someone of Helen’s calibre, with such extensive and widespread experience of the financial services sector, is testament to our ambition."
ATG Access
ATG Access, which makes vehicle barriers, road blockers and bollards and part of the HS Security group of Hill & Smith Holdings, has announced the appointment of a new interim managing director following the departure of Gavin Hepburn.
Richard Ellis joins ATG Access with more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, having previously held senior positions including 海角视频 operational director for Interserve, operations director at Midas Group, and most recently, interim managing director at Berry Systems, another Hill and Smith Company within the HS Security portfolio.
Starting as a brick layer at 16, Mr Ellis went on to study construction management at university.
The Institute of Directors
The Institute of Directors has boosted its Manchester team with the appointment of Sarah Clarke.
Sarah Clarke is a principal business psychologist, who has experience leading cultural change initiatives across organisations and teams.
She joins the IoD Manchester leadership team as an ambassador.
She specialises in delivering innovative, science-based solutions to change behaviours, enhance productivity and reduce sickness costs.
Livv Housing Group
A Merseyside-based housing association has hired two new directors to oversee the delivery of customer-focused services and to develop its service improvement and community investment portfolios.
Natalie Rose and Tom Wilde have taken on the roles of director of customer relationship management and the director of community and business planning respectively at Livv Housing Group.
Natalie Rose has more than 20 years experience in customer facing operational roles in the hospitality, travel and retail sectors.
Mr Wilde joins Livv from Trafford Housing Trust where he was head of the North West Foundation, working with local partners to design and set-up a range of new services, including a new employment and skills support service and mentoring support for care leavers in the borough.
Manchester United
Manchester United have named Richard Arnold as their new chief executive.
The Premier League club confirmed the appointment of Mr Arnold, who has previously served as their group managing director.
He will officially take on the role from February 1.
The move comes as the club announced Ed Woodward's departure date as executive vice-chairman as also being February 1.
Mr Woodward confirmed in April he would step down from the role "at the end of 2021" following the fallout from the club's involvement in the aborted European Super League. He has been in the job since 2013.
Asda
The current boss of Nisa has been hired by the Issa brothers to run Asda's stores as they continue a leadership shake up following their £6.8bn takeover.
Ken Towle, a former director at Tesco, will take up the new role of retail director at the supermarket group, replacing Anthony Hemmerdinger, who oversaw its shops as chief operating officer until his departure in September.
The appointment of Mr Towle is part of the latest set of changes to the firm's top team after its takeover by the Lancashire-based billionaire brothers and private equity backer TDR Capital was completed early last year.
The new owners are also continuing their search for a new chief executive for Asda after previous chief Roger Burnley stepped down ahead of schedule last year.
Northcoders
A former British Airways executive has been named as the new chair of software coding training programmes provider Northcoders Group.
Angela Williams has taken on the role from Sandy Lindsay after four years on the board.
Manchester-headquartered Northcoders floated on AIM in July 2021 and recently revealed plans to double its headcount and expand further across the 海角视频.
Angela Williams has previously held senior executive roles for companies such as British Airways, Sodexo, Centrica and Land Securities.
She was most recently was brought in as interim group chief people officer at the Post Office.
She has held a number of non-executive directorships including Which? Financial Services Ltd, Central & Cecil Housing Trust, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and Energy and Utility Skills.
