Altair's first-timers line up for Great Birmingham Run

A team from global engineering firm Altair is training for its first ever half marathon later this year.

The Leamington Spa-based company is taking on the Business Challenge at the

The 23-strong team, which includes two women and 20 first-timers, is made up of staff from various departments across the company including software development and support, consultancy, sales, marketing and finance.

The runners are fundraising for the Myton Hospice and the Birmingham Children's Hospital and are aiming to on October 18 in less than two hours.

Jerome Rousseau, from the product design team, said: "I started running after my friend challenged me to take part in a half marathon last year. I completed the Reading half marathon and really wanted to run another event.

"I suggested it to the office and was really impressed with how many people wanted to take part, despite never having run a half marathon before.

"We are all very competitive so are taking this quite seriously and we are excited to raise money for a great cause."

The Altair runners will be organised in teams based on running ability.
