Advanced Manufacturing Hub ready for development

Reclamation work completed on major regeneration which is expected to create up to 3,000 jobs at hub in Aston

Advanced Manufacturing Hub site in Aston is now ready for more development

Development work can now start on a key regeneration project expected to create up to 3,000 jobs after reclamation works were completed.

Up to 150,000 sq ft of employment space can now be built at the Advanced Manufacturing Hub (AMH) in Aston.

The hub is one of six economic zones being promoted by Birmingham City Council to fast-track economic development and is a joint venture with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Work at the 9.3-acre site included the removal of foundations, redundant services, hard standing and old car parks.

It has been made possible with a £1 million investment through the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) City Deal, a £22 million investment fund to accelerate priority economic and housing projects across Birmingham.

Property consultancy Savills is currently marketing the site and secured its first occupier last year plot to develop a 120,000 sq ft manufacturing base.

Over a 15-year period, the AMH will deliver 49 acres of employment land and generate up to 3,000 jobs.

Chris Webster, board director for GBSLEP, responsible for optimising assets and Enterprise Zone champion, said: "Vital space for employment and business to expand and locate to the Greater Birmingham and Solihull area is being realised due to the AMH.
