Acorns recruits Voice Mobile as new corporate partner

Telecommunications firms signs first official charity partnership as it hopes to raise £5,000 over coming year

Birmingham children's hospice charity Acorns has signed a new corporate partnership deal with telecommunications firm Voice Mobile.

The company, which provides consumer and business services, has donated an initial £5,000 to the Wythall-based charity and pledged to raise at least a further £5,000 during the 12-month partnership.

It will be entering a three-strong team in the Great Midlands Fun Run, an 8.5-mile race through Sutton Coldfield at the end of May, and will also be donating its time through volunteer team work at Acorns' trio of hospices in Selly Oak, Worcester and Walsall.

Voice Mobile's group sales manager Mark Barber told the Post: "We have done previous things with Acorns but never had anything set in stone, just more on an ad hoc basis.

"We wanted to do something more substantial as the cause is close to our directors' hearts so Acorns has given us corporate partner status.

"We'll be doing things throughout the next year such as a sky dive and leg wax in addition to the fun run.

"They have 700 children across the three hospices but there are about 2,000 within the heart of England region which need this kind of care.

"We don't want to take our lives for granted and are keen as a company to put something back."
