Able º£½ÇÊÓÆµ chief tells of longstanding and productive relationship with new offshore wind investor GRI

Key stakeholders have welcomed another huge investment at Able Marine Energy Park as further details emerge of the £266 million public and private investment in the Humber.

Spanish turbine tower specialist GRI Renewable Industries is heading to the North Killingholme site as part of a double-header that has seen Siemens Gamesa commit to its Hull expansion too.

The company, founded in 2008, has a global presence, with the Humber bank selected as its new º£½ÇÊÓÆµ manufacturing base. A memorandum of understanding has been signed, with government support pledged.

A total of 4,000 employees build more than 2,000 towers a year across several global sites and the company is now going to play a key role in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s continued expansion.

More than 300 jobs have been flagged with investment of £78 million heading in from Madrid.

It plans to start production with 100 offshore towers a year, using 100,000 tonnes of steel.

The company, with sales of £593 million in 2020, said AMEP was selected as "this site is expected to become the largest and most relevant marshalling port for offshore wind in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ".
