Long-awaited plans for part of Birmingham city centre affectionately known as will be unveiled later this month.
A consultation is set called Great Charles Place at a run down Birmingham City Council-owned car park site on Ludgate Hill.
The scheme fronting onto Great Charles Street forms a key part of the , launched earlier this year, as the key site linking the with the .
Developer Sterling Property Ventures and funding partner Long Harbour’s proposals include a 340-unit private rental scheme on the Birmingham City Council owned car park.
Proposals also include 20,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, as well as more than 100 parking spaces for residents.
The two-acre site, in the Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area, fronts Great Charles Street and is bounded by Ludgate Hill, Lionel Street and Livery Street.
James Howarth, managing director of Sterling Property Ventures, said: “We are keen to get feedback from the local community before finalising our plans for Birmingham’s first fully funded PRS scheme.”
Sterling Property Ventures entered a joint venture agreement to develop the site with Birmingham City Council in June 2013. In addition to the private rent (PRS) scheme funded by Long Harbour, Sterling is proposing a 250,000 sq ft office development fronting Great Charles Street.

The public consultation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, at St Paul’s Church, from 10am to 7pm.
Following the event, the joint development partners intend to submit a detailed planning application in October.
