The labour market is abuzz with activity and the Humber is no exception. New starter pay was up six to 15 per cent while 2022 is expected to see annual rises hit highs not seen since 2008 as parity is ensured between attracting and retaining staff.

According to the Robert Walters 2022 º£½ÇÊÓÆµ Salary Guide payroll budgets are to increase by 10 to 15 per cent this year, with 43 per cent of companies planning rises, helping keep wages at least in line with inflation.

But the lure of career advancement and a new challenge weighs strong for many.

Jonathan Lowden, DFDS Seaways' new operations director.


Jonathan Lowden has been welcomed as operations director at DFDS Seaways.

Appointed late last year, he started the role in the new year, joining from Wabtec º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, where he was director of bogie systems for the Doncaster rail specialist.
